Youth Flag Football

Play football in a safe environment where the focus is on building skills, making friends, learning teamwork, and having fun. Don’t pass up this fast-paced, non-contact sport for boys and girls!

Spring Flag Football League - 2018 REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!!

Hone your skills, get some exercise, make new friends, and get a chance at making a big play. At South Suburban, our goal is that everybody plays. We encourage coaches to play all players equally and allow every player to try every position. Kids will get the chance to throw passes, make catches, pull flags, run for touchdowns, and even get a Pick 6. Our league is a great way to get out and play.

Who: Boys and girls, grades K – 8th

When: Mar 17 – May 12, 2018. Important dates:

  • Dec 1: Registration opens
  • Feb 28: Registration closes
  • Mar 15: Coaches meeting
  • Mar 17 & 24: Pre-season practices
  • Mar 23:  Games Schedules released
  • Mar 31: Season begins
  • April 28: Picture day
  • May 12: Last day of games

Where: David A. Lorenz Regional Park and Altair Park

Practice: Pre-season practices may be held on the Saturdays of March 17 and 24. Beginning March 31, practices will be on Saturdays for 1-hour prior to games. Some coaches may hold optional practices during the week.

Games: Games are held on Saturdays, Mar 31 – May 12. Games start at 8 am and may run as late as 6 pm.

Price: $75 Residents, $90 Nonresidents. Flag belts are included. New jerseys are an additional $12.

Register: Registration runs from Dec 1st – Feb 28th. We do our best to honor requests for a special coach or friend, but requests aren’t guaranteed.

Rising Rushers - Spring 2018

Rising Rushers is a skills development clinic for Pre-K participants ages 4-5. We offer 4 different sessions, to include 4 classes in each. The main focus is to teach essential footballs skills. These skills will include hiking, passing, flag-pulling, catching, and throwing. A scrimmage will be included during the final week.

Who: Boys and Girls ages 4-5

Spring Showdown - 2018

End your season with a bang. Don’t miss this chance show off your team’s skills in a friendly competition.

Who: Boys and girls, grades 3rd – 8th

When: The tournament is May 19 & 20, 8 am – 6 pm. Other important times include:

  • March 5: registration opens
  • May 11: registration closes

Where: David A. Lorenz Regional Park

Games: Each team in the tournament is guaranteed two games, and the winners of each division will receive awards. The divisions are by grade level with 7th and 8th combined into one.

Price: $200 per team

How to become a Volunteer Coach

  1. Visit Team Sideline here to enroll as a volunteer.
  2. Complete a Concussion Awareness Training (choose one)
  3. Submit the Concussion Awareness Training certificate to the Athletics Office by March 2:
  4. Tell your players they can register, and list you as a 'Coach Request'.
